A $5000 Steel Shed?

Nathan needs to build a steel equipment barn on a budget. It sounds like he has a crew ready to get to work ... if they can find a steel shed for the right price

We are looking for a steel shed to house equipment, vehicles, etc. We would do the work ourselves and would like to do it for under $5000.

The best thing to do is shop around. Many of the steel building manufacturers offer online quoting. With some steel building companies, you simply plug in the specs for your barn and they'll get back to you with a price by email or over the phone. But other companies offer true online quoting for their steel sheds ... this allows you to get better than a ballpark price without ever having to speak to a sales rep.

There are lots of factors that will run the cost of a steel shed up or down. The size of the structure, the materials used, local codes, and the freight to the job site will dictate the ultimate cost. I did a quick check with Steelmax Buildings and was able to spec out a very basic clear span rigid frame 30 by 40 foot steel gable barn for roughly $6500.

So a steel shed kit for under $5000 is not out of the question ... as long as it's relatively small with basic materials .. and you're not located at the North Pole ...
