Backyard Storage Sheds

I've always said that backyard storage sheds make good economic sense. Check into the prices for public storage facilities and you'll quickly see the light. It's absolutely amazing how much these storage companies charge per month. By building your own storage shed, you'll be able to stow your stuff without draining your wallet.

My little shed is 8' x 12' ... that works out to 96 feet of floorspace. It cost under $1000 to build (with a good portion of the expense being the plexiglass greenhouse window).

I was floored when I checked the prices at a local storage company.

They wanted over $1500 per year for 100 square feet of storage space. Fifteen hundred bucks per year. Yow.

Of course, not everyone has the land to build their own shed. If you live in an apartment, you're stuck behind the eight-ball when it comes to storage space. And if you rent a house, your landlord might not look too kindly on a shed building project ... but there are always alternatives for those who are creative. Some small shed kits are designed so they can be knocked down and reassembled. Others are so attractive and compact, they can actually add character to a backyard. Yes, indeed ... you can store your extra junk without adding an eyesore (or busting the bank).
