February 03, 2004Mesothelioma LawyerI was watching FoxSportsWorld late last night when a commercial came on for a Mesothelioma Lawyer. My wife had told me that she had seen ads like this for Mesothelioma victims. But this was the first time that I had actually seen one for myself. Mesothelioma is a form of lung cancer, which may be attributed to asbestos exposure. It's common, from what they say, in people that have worked in the construction trades. I've heard about asbestos-caused maladies for much of my life ... I grew up down the river from a huge asbestos plant. Now there's a Wal-Mart where that plant used to stand. This morning, I read an interesting Associated Press article about Phil Lee, a retired construction worker from British Columbia. In the short term, it might seem like Phil is lucky. But in the long term, he is not. You see, Phil just won $100,000 (Canadian) in the Super Draw 7 Lottery. Unfortunately, Phil cannot work, the article says, due to lung problems blamed on asbestos exposure. The article doesn't come out and say that it's Mesothelioma. But it sure sounds that way. Phil has some of his winnings earmarked for a tombstone that will read "Been there, done that" ... while showing "a champagne glass, a royal flush, a slot machine, a nude woman facing backward and a stick of dynamite with a lit fuse." I rather like that. I reckon the Mesothelioma Lawyers will, too. Posted by geekbooks at February 3, 2004 05:39 PM |
