Putting the Blood Pressure Monitor to Work
Approximately 7:30 PM - I use my blood pressure monitor to take a best of three average reading: 125 over 75. I'm a little bit above my norm, but not much. 7:45 PM - Dinner time: lemon chicken, potatoes, and a good-sized salad with Newman's oil and vinegar dressing, along with my first glass of Pepperwood Grove Pinot Noir. Is the selection a faux pas? What do I know ... it goes down fairly well. This stuff has been sitting around the kitchen for years. 8:00 PM - I saunter out to the computer to start clacking away at the keyboard. I fill up before I wander into the office. The glass is more than half full, but the bottle is half empty. 8:15 PM - My face is starting to feel warm. I'd rather write then tangle with spreadsheets, but I must forge ahead.
9:00 PM - Time to wander into the house to strap on the blood pressure monitor again. It looks like this is working. The blood pressure monitor shows I'm down to 114 over 64 in only an hour and twentyfive minutes into it. There's something to this. Okay, so I'm glad I'm not driving home from an office. Must ... invest ... more time ... into the experiment ... It's getting close to 9:30. Need to climb into the house to take another reading.
9:30 or so: took a couple of sets of blood pressure readings. Came up with a low of 107 over 57. That's a fairly substantial drop over the baseline reading of 125 over 75. Whattya know! The blood pressure monitors shows I'm getting close to that magic 20 point drop. Through it all, my pulse has remained stable. Not sure if I want to drain the magic elixer. In any case, I'll be switching to H20 shortly to fight off the inevitable.
I've come to wholeheartedly believe in a a diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in saturated fats. Once you understand how it all works, it just makes sense. Nothing to excess, of course. Everything in moderation. I'll take one more reading with the blood pressure monitor before I turn in for the night, but I can't guarantee that I'll post it before I pass out. Scratch that ...
