Five Great Reasons to Build Your Own Shed
I'll say it right from the start. Building a shed isn't for everyone. But if you're one of the thousands of folks that attempt the feat and tempt fate each month, building your own shed can be quite a rewarding experience.
To that end, I've pulled together five of the top reasons why you'd want to build your own shed. (To be sure, these are five of the reasons, not the top five reasons.)
- Cost - You will save money by building it yourself ... assuming you avoid making any major mistakes along the way, of course. There's no margin and no overhead to support. It's all in the sweat equity.
- Style - Whether you're a fan of gables, gambrels, or saltboxes, you're free to build your shed in any shape and style you might desire. Take the time to find the right set of shed plans for your needs.
- Control - When you build it yourself, you're not at the mercy of a contractor's busy schedule. Want to start building right away? Go for it! (As long as you don't jump the gun with regard to your municipality.)
- Pride - There's nothing quite like being able to say that you built it yourself. Not that you'd brag about it, or anything ...
- Tools - This is like Christmas in July if you love power tools. Heck, if you're saving thousands of dollars by building that shed yourself, you don't need any additional justification to buy every power tool you need for the job.
