Garage Shelves

Our garage is a mess, yet again. It's like walking through an obstacle course out there. While the lawn and garden stuff is out in the backyard shed, for the most part, the garage shelves are brimming with assorted stuff (hey, don't call it junk) and the floor is covered with more miscellaneous stuff (okay, so some of which might be considered junk, since most of it isn't mine).

If a man's home is his castle, the garage is the room where the crown jewels are kept. With that in mind, I have no problem parting with a bit of cash to make things liveable. Looking back, our large sturdy set of garage shelves has proven to be a wise investment in garage storage. I just need to go back to the well (so I can throw more coins into its depths).

Yes indeed, we're overdue to take that trip up the Turnpike to Ikea to buy more garage shelving ...

My sixteen feet of Gorm storage shelving is packed with everthing from chemicals (for the lawn, spa, and cars), house paints, and tools to miscellaneous outdoor equipment, sporting goods, and packing materials. Did I mention long out-of-print books? There are more than a few cartons sitting on the shelves that could be put out for recycling.

I've been out in the garage with a tape measure, this afternoon, in the attempt to determine if there's enough room to squeeze in a L-shaped shelving unit. It looks like it all comes down to how the shelves bolt together. Unfortunately, Ikea's website doesn't provide all the answers. I need to finish drawing it up and take a ride ...
