Garden Shed Permit Shock

Do you need to get a permit to put a garden shed in your backyard? As Mike Howard of West Berkshire in the UK found out the hard way, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Three years after he built his combination office/garden shed/summer house, the local authorities are threatening to have the shed ripped down. The government planning inspector is playing hardball, because in his eyes, the garden shed's an eyesore.

The report from icBerkshire states that other large sheds in the area were built without permits.

Yet another example of why you need to do your homework before you build or buy your shed, lest you invoke the ire of the authorities.
