Greenhouse Shed

My appreciation for my greenhouse shed always grows (cough) when it gets to this the time of year. Sometimes, I'll walk back to the shed on a cold clear day ... just to warm up. The temperature might be in the low 40s outside, but it can be 90 degrees inside, underneath the greenhouse windows. Consider it poor man's solar sauna, if you will. Don't mind the fumes from the tractor.

The greenhouse shed serves purely as a storage shed for most of the year. There's no artificial heating system ... only the sun. Sure, it might be toasty in the afternoon, but it gets mighty cold in the middle of the night. I'm always wary about starting the tomatoes too early, being that the shed isn't insulated. I've never kept track of the temperature swings. A cheap wireless thermometer might do the trick.

There's a month or so each spring when the greenhouse shed does double-duty. But I tend to start vegetable seedlings in the sun room, just to be safe, before moving the flats out to the greenhouse.

Come to think of it, I'm due to go seed shopping ...
