HDMI Cables

I ordered a set of three HDMI cables from Monoprice, along with an A/B HDMI switchbox on Friday afternoon. Within minutes, a confirmation email arrived, stating that the HDMI cables had shipped via USPS Priority Mail. The box of delicious HDMI goodies from Rancho Cucamonga arrived before lunch today.

I was in HDMI heaven!

Check out those sweet fat cables. The install called for a trio of three-foot gold plated HDMI to HDMI Cables (24AWG - with net jacket), at a very reasonable $14.87 a piece.

Monoprice's 2X1 push button Manual HDMI Switch handles the switching chores between the DVD player, DirecTV HDTV box, and the monitor. The HDMI switch set me back a mere $28.94. (The unit does not require any external power.)

Here's why I needed that HDMI switch ... there's only one HDMI port on the monitor!

It's strictly mix and match back here ... I used whatever cables I could find. This shot shows the component video still hooked up. Now that the HDMI cable setup is installed, I can pull the redundent plugs. (Yes, if you look closely, you will see a set of Monster cables, but that's only because they were on clearance at Radio Shack.)

The whole rig cost $82.55, including shipping. That's less than the price of one four-foot HDMI Monster Cable at Best Buy.

Best Buy, indeed.
