Honey, I Shrunk the Shed!

I'm convinced that there's something about summertime that shrinks sheds. The backyard barn that seemed almost spacious in the earliest days of spring somehow grew smaller ... it's almost as if the walls moved in like the Death Star garbage compactor scene from the original Star Wars.

"One thing's for sure, we're all gonna be a lot thinner." - Han Solo

Okay, so the shed walls didn't really move in ... but there sure seems to be a whole lot less space.

As fall sets in, it's time to take a look around the shed to figure out what can be tossed and what can be better stowed away for the winter. Think about what you can do to get stuff off the floor and up onto some sort of storage apparatus ... whether it's a pegboard, hooks, or hangers. Getting things of the shed floor will make life a whole lot more pleasant and make room for that easy chair.

Getting rid of stuff you don't need is key. Well, at least I know it is in my case ... when my old John Deere STX 38 fell apart to the point of not being able to cut the lawn (without a significant investment in parts and time), I slid it around 90 degrees and parked it next to the tiller. It's needlessly eating up space. I know I need to get rid of the old beast, but it's not like I can drag it out of the shed, haul it up to the curb and have someone pick it up.

I've been giving some thought to basket-casing the STX and parting it out on eBay for a bit of chump change ... strangely enough, the plastic tractor hoods are like gold, alas ours departed many moons ago ...
