Manchester United Soccer Jersey

I bought a Manchester United soccer jersey for my son a few weeks ago. But I didn't buy it at the official Manchester United Shop (I tried to do that before Christmas, but the order never went through).

After looking around for quite some time, I finally rolled the dice and bid on a red short-sleeve home jersey, with v.Nistelrooy #10 emblazoned on the back. I've seen similar soccer jerseys online at a cost of $90 (at the Man U Shop and other places). So when I saw that they were going for a third of that on eBay, I figured that I'd take a chance.

I purchased the shirt from an eBayer from Argentina.

The transaction went well and the seller was responsive to my email ... I sent him the thirty bucks and then I sat back and waited for the package to arrive. And arrive it did, roughly two weeks after the seller sent me an email saying that our fabulous red Ruud Van Nistlerooy Manchester United soccer jersey had shipped. Upon inspection, I noticed that the return address was not from Argentina.

Instead, the envelope was postmarked from Thailand.

The Man U jersey looks pretty good. It may or may not be an authentic Nike shirt. It came with tags and appears to be an authentic piece of Manchester United apparel. But I can't say for sure.

Do I recommend buying Manchester United merchandise on eBay? It all depends. You need to be sure that you are buying from a reputable seller, no doubt about that.

I'm about to buy two more jerseys (a Man U away and a Real Madrid Beckham home), but not from the same seller as the first. This time, I'm going with a seller that's right here in the states, not halfway across the world.

ADDED 7/15/06: update: New Manchester United Kit for 2006-2007 new campaign, new kit, retro style.
