New 2006-2007 Manchester United Kit

Manchester United has officially launched their new 2006-2007 home kit design and the jury's out as to whether it will be a big success. The new Manchester United jersey is in the traditional red, of course, with the logo of new sponsors AIG (replacing Vodaphone) emblazoned across the chest. Nike remains as the manufacturer. A retro design is intended to harken back to the "Busby Babes" of fifty years ago. It'll take some time before the fans vote is tallied ... whether or not the ballot boxes are stuffed with cash remains to be seen.

The throwback red jersey is accented by white bands around the sleeves, a white v-neck, and white piping (which picks up the outline of the AIG logo quite nicely). The Manchester United crest is prominently featured on the left chest, set off by a somewhat oversized white badge.

July 15th's friendly against the Orlando Pirates marks the first match appearance of the new kit.
