New Shed Door Looms
Necessity might be the Mother of Invention, but it's also the reason I'll be installing a new shed door this spring. Old Green has finally given up the ghost and there's little chance her replacement's deck will fit through the old doorway. (Old Green's Kohler still fires up, but there's too much work to do.) While I've been giving a bunch of though to picking up a 48-inch wide residential ZTR, it's out of my price range at the present time. It looks like I'll need go with something more reasonable, at least for the moment. (I still want the ZTR, ultimately)
Regardless, I have to replace the shed door. I've been putting it off for a while.
The old shed door took a beating one day when I forgot to latch it shut before a nasty windstorm. To say the door's worse for wear is an understatement. Rather than simply building a new replacement door for the original doorway, I'm going to take this opportunity to take out a stud or two and open things up.
Finding the right shed door hardware is key. If the shed were larger (and more on the scale of a small barn), I'd go with a sliding door setup. Alas, I just don't have that room. I'm still deliberating whether to go with a swinging single- or double-door setup. I'll have to make up my mind pretty soon.
The other big decision? Should I rent or buy that reciprocating saw ...
