Portable Buildings
Don't want to throw away your money at a storage facility? A shed can be a wonderfully portable building, if it's built the right way. But a portable building can't be any old shed ... it has to be properly designed and built sturdily. If you expect the structure to endure the rigors of the road, you'll need to take appropriate steps to beef up the framing and fasteners.

I am looking for a shed that can be moved when we move. It needs to be a barn type, with a loft, around 14 by 20, if possible.
Buying a portable building makes loads of sense if your storage needs will travel with you.
Width is one of the biggest considerations. Do you really need a 14 foot wide structure or would a 12 foot width suffice? A 12 foot wide storage building can be fitted with a garage-style overhead door on one end, making it easy to move items in-and-out. To make up for the lost square footage, you might stretch it out to 24 feet.
A dutch/gambrel design will provide a loft area, but that brings us to the second largest consideration ... the height of the shed. In order for the building to be easily transportable, not only does the width of the structure need to fit down the road ... the roof needs to clear those bridges, low-hanging utility wires, traffic lights, and the like. If you need a stand-up loft, you might be out of luck.
