August 31, 2005Shed Building SeasonSummer's almost gone and that shed's not built yet? If you didn't get around to it, don't sweat it (literally). Fall's a great time to build a shed. If you've done your legwork, you'll know where to site your shed ... where the light falls, how the prevailing winds blow, how to get the best view from your hammock and all that good stuff. Plenty of thought should take place before you build. (The best place to do that thinking, of course, is in a hammock.) Finding the right spot for your storage shed is crucial. You may need to weigh aesthetics against utility, and play the backyard house of style guide against the do-it-yourselfer's ease-of-use doctrine. And don't forget about those local zoning laws ... As the seasons change, think about how you'll use that shed. If you use it to store a snow thrower, do you really want to place it all the way at the back of your yard, 150 feet from the driveway?
