Shed Property Line Set Backs
Checking the local property line set backs is an essential step before starting a shed building project. A little time spent researching the code on the town web site can save a lot of headaches ...

I'd like to build a shed up against or within inches of my common fence with my neighbor. Can I do this and can it be higher than my existing 6 foot high fence? I'd like it to be 8-9 feet tall.
After taking a quick look around the town's website, it appears that the municipality requires a 15 foot rear yard property line set back. Building a shed any closer to that to the common fence would require approval from the town. The neighbor might have a say in things, as well.
Any height restrictions would be a different matter. In towns with tight zoning requirements, there's always a chance that the style of the main house will determine the style of the shed.
