February 23, 2004Storage in the Garden ShedI happened to be flipping through this month's Martha Stewart magazine when I ran across an article on shed storage techniques. Rest assured, that magazine is not on my regular reading list, but my wife had mentioned that there was an article with a bunch of cool tomato trellises, so I decided to take a look. Needless to say, I was not impressed. :) I mean, this was the most un-lived-in storage shed I had ever seen. It was typically Martha... the thing was spotless (um, unlike the stock allegations, that is)! Quite unlike my hybrid storage shed, I must say. Where Martha had fancy hooks and gizmos, I have my $1.99 pegboard. Where she (er, her minions) built a handy little access ramp, I have my gnarly piece of leftover T-111 plywood (which has stood the test of summer after summer of use, loading the John Deere lawn tractor in and out of the garden shed). Where Martha had fancy shelves, I have spare pieces of horizontal tubafore nailed between the studs. And what she didn't have were two of the coolest features in my garden shed: south facing greenhouse glazing and a wicked cedar potting shelf. My shed isn't a showplace. It's a workplace. It's crammed to the gills with gardening and lawn care stuff. Stay tooned ... I promise to finally take some proper photos of my messy working shed this week ... I'll post them on my new garden shed log page ... Posted by geekbooks at February 23, 2004 12:41 PM |
