Switching to Packet 8
With the time ticking away on AT&T's CallVantage VOIP service, I've decided to take the plunge and switch to Packet 8. I can't wait any longer and don't want to risk going without service.
I thought about going without an office landline, but decided against it for the time being. Packet 8 seems to offer a good combination of features and value for the dollar. We'll see how they stack up to AT&T's service.
While I'm hoping to be able to retain my existing phone number, I'm unsure if this will be an option. Changing phone numbers after years of service is a hassle, no doubt about that. Although I do have a Google Voice number, I haven't handed that out.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I should mention that the big colorful Packet 8 advertisement just above is an affiliate link. Not that it should matter.
VOIP's a great thing. I can't see going back to a conventional phone company wire at this point.
So Packet 8 it is ...
I'll post updates as the transfer process takes place.Posted by geekbooks at September 25, 2009 01:02 PM
